PH 29 1837 (30th May). Entire with "6pm 30 May 1837" in clipped corner oblong postmark. Also "1" mark on reverse. £10.00 [PH 29]
PH 592 1837 (1st Jun). Entire from ABERCARNE (10 miles from NEWPORT) to CARDIFF. Letter and bill requesting £54-3s-4d to be paid to GLADIS DAVIES by the MARQUISS of BUTE. Includes 13,000 tons of coal at 1d per Ton. Two NEWPORT sending marks on reverse - one dated 1st June 1837 and the other dated 2nd June 1837. M/S 4d chargemark on face. £15.00 [PH 592]
PH 433 1837 (26th Jul). Letter from R. SHERWOOD, requesting payment of money owed to himself. Face bears red manuscript, charge mark: "Pd 8". Reverse bears unframed, double arc: "STOCKTON/JY26/1837" datestamp. Scribbled account on reverse suggests the sum of £18-19-1 was due. £4.00 [PH 433]
PH 295 1837 (31st Jul). Letter in clear script, ré: Life Insurance Proposal for £4000 on the life of Lord Viscount Massereene. An additional insurance cover fo £5000 has already been accepted. Face of cover bears a "2/2" manuscript charge mark and a boxed Scottish tax mark for ½d. Reverse bears red "AUG/C2F/1837" datestamp and two black datestamps "EX/31JY31/837". PH 522 1837 (20th Nov). Completed medical account of the health of Mr John Madge, for the purposes Life Insurance. Face bears red, manuscript, charge mark "l". Reverse bears red, single circle, datestamp: "G/20NO20/1837". £4.00 [PH 522]
PH 410 1837 (December). Entire letter from STROUD to BIRMINGHAM. Letter is still sealed, so contents not known. Reverse bears a serifed, double arc, postmark: "STROUD/DE--/1837" (day of posting is missing). Front bears black manuscript charge mark "8". Most unusual. £15.00 [PH 410]
PH 524 1838. Large piece bearing handstruck, black, charge mark "2", and boxed: "T.P/SO Hackney" (SO = Southern Office). £5.00 [PH 524]
PH 523 1838 (14th May). Re-sealed envelope (with card inside?). Face bears crowned: "FREE/14MY14/1838", and red "T.P Chapel St". Reverse bears red, indented: "6Ev6/MY14/1838", single circle: "C/MY-14/1838", and sigle circle: "MAY/C16F/1838". Also bears lovely black wax seal. Soiled condition. £7.00 [PH 523]

PH 81 1838 (12th Oct). Entire from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Front bears framed ½d (wheel-tax). Reverse bears unpaid mark ... GLASGOW / 12OG / 1838.N (in red) and C.D.S. arrival mark ... OCT / C13M / 1838 (in red & black). 7d postal rate (in MSS). Fold accross front. £15.00 [PH 81]
PH 459 1838 (18th Oct). Letter from SCOTLAND to LANCASHIRE, with deep red (almost black), single circle: "OCT/C18E/1838", on reverse, and large "Add!/½" tax mark on front. £12.00 [PH 459]
PH 472 1838 (4th Nov). Letter from CARLISLE to EDINBURGH, with oblong boxed ½ tax mark and manuscript charge mark "8", on face, and red: "NOV/C4A/1838" datestamp, on reverse. Filing folds front and back. £6.00 [PH 472]
PH 370 1839 (16th May). Letter to CAMDEN TOWN, with handstruck charge mark "2" on face. Reverse bears a black "T.P / Chief Office" mark and a red, indented, datestamp: "8NT8/MY16/1839". £10.00 [PH 370]
PH 347 1839 (2nd Jul). Double usage insurance form, sent to Bellvue Cottage, Edinburgh. Two line: "DUKE / STREET", and red: "PAID EDINB/M/JUL2/1839" on face, with two manuscript, red, charge marks "l". Turn form around to return to Standard Life Insurance Company, Edinburgh, with black handstamp "l" charge mark and red: "JUL/+2A/1839" datestamp on the return journey. Small holes on each corner when folded. Neat repair to one edge. £8.00 [PH 347]
PH 351 1839 (2nd Jul). Double usage insurance form, sent to 64, Hanover Street, Edinburgh. Two line: "DUKE / STREET", and red: "PAID EDINB/M/JUL2/1839" on face, with two manuscript, red, charge marks "l". Turn form around to return to Standard Life Insurance Company, Edinburgh, with handstruck "l" charge mark and red: "PAID EDINB/M/JUL2/1839" datestamp on the return journey. Damage hole around seal area. "DUKE STREET" is under-inked but visable. £8.00 [PH 351]

Most interesting and historic letter (another page, most certainly blank, is missing) from GLASGOW to EDINBURGH, outlining owners of lands in the County of STIRLING, Black, oblong boxed, ½ tax mark and manuscript charge mark "7", on face, and oblong, octagonal: "GLASGOW/15FE/1839" and single circle "FEB/C16M/1839" datestamp, in red, on reverse. PH 419 1839 (14th Oct). Entire from DALKIETH to EDINBURGH with boxed: "DALKIETH/OC14/1839" in black and red single circle: "OCT/15/1839" postmark. Filing fold. £6.00 [PH 419]
PH 297 1839 (16th Nov). Proposal for Life Insurance of £100 on a 52 year old man who has previously suffered from smallpox. Insurance proposed by James Curle, writer of Melrose, was declined. Reverse bears unframed, single arc: "MELROSE/16NO/1839" datestamp. Face bears red manuscript charge mark: "Paid 7½", and a single, red, rim, Scottish datestamp: "PAID/17NOVM/183*" (*number "9" missing from year date). £15.00 [PH 297]
